December – Under Construction

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I have so many things to be grateful for, you readers being one of them. Thank you.

These days I have remodeling on my mind. We will begin a major overhaul of our “vacation” cabin in the next month or so, starting whenever our contractor finishes his current job. I will chronicle our progress for you here. The new wood flooring arrived last week and is being housed in a temporary storage area. It will replace tiles with stained and chipped grout, plus discolored and faded carpet. That carpet is a magnet for dog hair! It always looks dirty.

Why should Spades, Spatulas, and Spoons be an exception to remodeling fever? It’s a victim of what we call “remodel creep”.  My blog has been going for over a year now. It’s time to switch from a free WordPress site to something more professional. Please bear with me during the transition, I will attempt to make it as painless as possible for us all. But, there may be some small interruptions and hiccups.

You will start seeing a new look before the New Year.

I would love to hear any comments and thoughts from those of you who have gone through this transition. Any words of wisdom to share?

  1. I’m so excited for you and can’t wait to see what you’ll be coming up with! Good for you! I am on my way to the store in a snow storm for star anise and cashews and a few jars! (At my folk’s house and I’m crossing my fingers on the Star Anise!)

  2. cool. I’m about to start my own remodel. I’ll be interested to see how you handle the choosing materials part of the project. I always find that a bit overwhelming. looking forward to reading your posts!

    • I think the choosing materials is the fun part, I hate the mess that happens in the middle. We have already chosen the bathroom tile, cabinet style for the kitchen and bath, flooring, and other odds and ends. Next is all the fixtures and new appliances. Hopefully this can all come together in a timely fashion!
